Mission - San Francisco

You could write a whole book on the Mission District of San Francisco. I think its one of the best places in town and its the place I recommend for all people coming to visit. That and I recommend NOT going to Fisherman's Wharf (hate that place - why does everyone HAVE to go there?!). The Mission is a mix of gentrification and grunge. It has a variety of small restaurants and shops. What I love is how eclectic the people are. You have everything from the yuppies to the hippies and everything in between.

Ok, this entry is going to focus on 16th Street. Just awesome. I love the fact that if you google this street and see it on the Maps - it doesn't show all the shops and restaurants - you actually need to go there and walk the street to see every tiny nook. One of my favorite book stores is there - called Adobe Books. I went there for a wine tasting one night and just sat about drinking some Merlot while paging through whatever caught my fancy. Across the street (and down about half a block) is the Roxie Theater - a haven for Indie films and (even better) Indie film festivals.

This particular night we hit Andalu. Its a tapas place that we managed to score a 10 course meal with wine parings for $70 bucks for two people. You have to go through Livingsocial.com to get the tickets. Btw, Maria tuned me in to Livingsocial.com, incredible deals on this website. Anyway, back to Andalu. We had come here a week prior with Brett and Kan. The hostess put us in the corner bay window. People watching while eating here is such a good combo. Long story short, they know how to do tapas well here.

Ok gotta run - so check out the Mission and for heaven's sake stay the hell away from Fisherman's Wharf!
